Small historic strand on the eastern side of Great Island
Ballybrassil Strand is a small stony tidal shore on the eastern side of Great Island, about 500 metres east of Glenmore Strand. An 1894 Cork Historical and Archaeological Society record preserves names and stories attached to this shoreline, including a place called Sailor’s Cove. The National Folklore Collection also holds a local account of four Rathcoursey fishermen lost in a storm and washed ashore here. The exact strand has no Google review page, and public access, parking and visitor facilities remain unverified.
