The place
About Sandymount Strand
Sandymount Strand is 2 km a sandy beach with a gradual slope, which makes the water too shallow for any real swimming. There is a large inlet of water that remains even at low tide and is known locally as "Cockle Lake". Two mapped segments of this long strand are consolidated into the official Sandymount page. Public access is recorded, but the usable shore and final approach can still change with tide, weather and local conditions. Official information lists parking and toilets; check current availability and local notices before relying on them.
