A durable atlas for Ireland

Places first. Context kept close.

Hidden Beacon gives each real place one permanent identity, then connects it to useful evidence, its wider area and history that genuinely belongs nearby.

Current published scope

1,038 reviewed beach identities.

The first frozen production release contains 1,038 beach and waterside place guides. It has beach coverage in 22 counties and keeps all 26 Republic county hubs visible, including four explicit zero-coverage areas.

Source-aware factsUnknown stays unknown. A missing facility record is never rewritten as “no”.
Orientation, not photographyEach guide has four validated map-derived views: aerial, topographic, illustrated and area context.
History without repetitionArea history has its own home; a place receives historical context only when the relationship is supported.

What “complete” means

Complete within the selected release, not the entire coastline forever.

The published count covers the identities that passed the current verification and duplicate-review workflow. Informal swimming spots, uncertain coastline candidates and future all-island expansion remain outside that claim until reviewed. Corrections and stronger local evidence can improve later releases without changing a place’s frozen public URL.
